    Pastor's Page - July/August 2017

    June 16, 2017 Curtis Boehm

Look out the window, wherever you are right now. What signs of growth do you see? From my vantage point, a very large tree is waving it's full dark green branches in the June breeze and the grass underneath shows the stripes left by the lawn mower yesterday.

Signs of growth are more easily visible in the summer. But growth in living things continues through the year. Just as trees put out leaves to absorb the energy of the sun during the summer months, you might have summer habits that replenish the stores and strengthen the roots of your life. How will God nurture you and grow you during this season?

Lately, one way he has been growing me is in a new practice of prayer. In my prayer journal, I write the words, “My dear son Curtis,” a the top of the page. Then I write the words that come to mind that God might say if he were holding the pen. This is an idea that comes from the “Jesus Calling” devotional series that Sarah Young authored. It’s an exercise of faith, imagining, writing, and then listening to what God might be speaking to our hearts. It reminds me that we have a God who is interested in the details of our lives, and who cares for us as individuals.

Wherever you are growing, God is with you and wants to fill you with His abundant goodness! May you hear His voice and know his care this growing season, and may His garden of souls here at Grace Lutheran bear abundant fruit!

God bless you and nurture you this summer.

With love and thanksgiving, and prayers,

Pastor Curtis, Andrea, Kara, Jonas, and Judah Boehm
