    Gratitude

I went for a run this morning in the fog. It was still dark when I left the house, and the street lights were shining through the leaves on the full grown trees on our street, making fingers of light that grasped toward me while I gathered the strength in my body and set off into the day. It was a brief moment, but it was so beautiful that I have been thinking about that sight all morning.

I suppose there are moments of shimmering beauty unfolding around me all day long, but I seldom notice. I get a head full of goals and a heart full of care and I get busy. But gratitude takes time. And sometimes, one of those little gifts God so effortlessly creates stops me in my tracks and I give thanks.

This month we will celebrate Thanksgiving. What are you thankful for? Thinking back over the summer, what were some of the gift-moments that made you pause and take a deep breath? When you count your blessings, who populates your list?

Jesus-followers are invited to live in the abundance of His generosity, even through times of pain and difficulty. There is always something to be thankful for! And most powerfully, we give thanks for His incredible love, demonstrated on the cross, that has brought us back into God’s family, and made us heirs of this breathtaking kingdom.

So take time to give thanks! Stop and smell the flowers (or the fresh snow) and remember that God’s gifts will keep coming, day after day…

    In thankfulness and praise,

    Curtis and Andrea

    Kara, Jonas, and Judah
