The Coach
Coach Cameron Swityk is an energetic basketball instructor and official from Edmonton, with a passion for developing young players. Although he loves all the sports, basketball is his home. He graduated from W.P. Wagner 1999, attended the UofL from 2004-2008. A member of the First Lutheran church in Lloydminster, he returned to in Edmonton in Oct 2020. After the challenges posed by COVID-19, Cameron sought direction, echoing the advice from Jesus in Matthew 7: "Ask, and it will be given..", he soon found purpose by volunteering for a local basketball club, realizing that teaching and mentoring youth aligned perfectly with his calling.
Coach Cameron holds certifications from both the National Officials Certification Program (NOCP) and the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) through Canada Basketball. This includes Safesport, a national program developed to protect vulnerable youth within sport at all levels, as well as Jr. NBA's "FUNdamentals" coaching program which relies on the LTAD (Long Term Athlete Development) model to minimize injuries and burnout and maximize long term involvement in sport.
